From right to left, Teniente Coronel de Infantería de Marina de Colombia (Colombian Marine Lt. Col.) Eduar Alexander Michaels Bravo, the deputy commander of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Southern Command, and U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Jorge Luis Nieves-Lopez, a medic from the Puerto Rican National Guard, mentor Alferez de Fragata (Guatemalan Lieutenant) Imad Hurtado after a joint training exercise with U.S. Marines with SPMAGTF-SC and the Brigada Infantería de Marina (Guatemalan Marine Brigade) in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, July 19, 2019. Joint training held between the Marines and sailors of the SPMAGTF-SC and its partner nations are shaping the capabilities and responsiveness with each other, which achieves interoperability among the militaries. The task force is conducting training and engineering projects alongside partner nation military forces in Central and South America.
