Staff Sgt. Jeremy Smith's mother, Sandra Smith, his wife, Rachel Smith, Maj. Mark Wood, the commanding officer of Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 23rd Marine Regiment, his father, Jerry Smith, and his brother, Tyler Smith gather together after his Bronze Star award ceremony at Ellington Field Joint Armed Forces Reserve Center, April 14. Smith was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star for heroic actions during a tour in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Smith's parents and wife received the Bronze Star on his behalf.
