Sgt. Pete Bernal, the non-commissioned officer in charge of the laundry operations, tosses a load of dirty laundry into a pallet box. By having soldiers wash laundry instead of contractors, the Army is avoiding an annual bill of $193,800 said Maj. Mariwin Lara, the 4th Sustainment Brigade support operations supply and service officer in charge. Bernal is assigned to the 157th Quartermaster Company, 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade.
