190801-N-WI365-1028 CORAL SEA (August 01, 2019) – The amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) sails behind the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) destroyer helicopter ship JS Ise (DDH 182), left, and the JMSDF amphibious transport dock ship JS Kunisaki (LST 4003). Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
