SAN DIEGO (Aug. 5, 2019) Aviation Boatswains Mate (Handler) 3rd Class Marquise Kendal (back) and Airman Alex Schrock (front) move in unison while approaching a jet during a crash and salvage training exercise onboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The ship’s crash and salvage team trains on rescue recoveries in order to be ready to respond in the event of a casualty.
