FORT BENNING, Ga. - A member of the U.S. Army Parachute Team, commonly known as the Golden Knights, parachutes onto Fryar Drop Zone during the playing of the national anthem. Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning commemorated the 2019 National Airborne Day Aug. 16 at Fryar Drop Zone at Fort Benning. National Airborne Day is the anniversary of the first paratrooper test jump, which took place at Fort Benning 79 years ago. The U.S. Army Parachute Team from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the Silver Wings jump team from Fort Benning and the volunteer Liberty Jump Team performed parachute jumps to honor the history of U.S. Army airborne Soldiers.
