(August 7, 2019) Sailors from Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit Three and USS New Orleans (LPD 18) recover a NASA parachute from the water as a part of the Orion Space Shuttle recovery training exercise. This was an experimental exercise for the future launch of the Orion Space Shuttle with training focused on the recovery of the forward bay cover, which is the top of the capsule that detaches after reentering the atmosphere allowing the parachute to deploy for the capsule and the crew inside.
