(August 7, 2019) Navy Diver 2nd Class Jake Aston and Navy Diver 2nd Class Joey Alexander of Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit Three launch into the water to recover NASA’s forward bay cover as part of the Orion Space Shuttle recovery training exercise. This was an experimental exercise for the future launch of the Orion Space Shuttle with training focused on the recovery of the forward bay cover, which is the top of the capsule that detaches after reentering the atmosphere allowing the parachute to deploy for the capsule and the crew inside.
