ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 27, 2019) The Royal Norwegian Navy Fridjof Nansen-class frigate HNoMS Thor Heyerdahl (F-314), center, the U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley (DDG 101), right, and the U.S. Navy guided-missile cruiser Philippine Sea (CG-58), left, conduct joint visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) training exercises while transiting the Atlantic Ocean. Gridley is underway on a regularly-scheduled deployment as the flagship of Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 to conduct maritime operations and provide a continuous maritime capability for NATO in the northern Atlantic.
