ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 27, 2019) The U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley (DDG 101), front, the U.S. Navy guided-missile cruiser Philippine Sea (CG-58), center behind Gridley, and the Royal Norwegian Navy Fridjof Nansen-class frigate HNoMS Thor Heyerdahl (F-314) conduct joint visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) training exercises while transiting the Atlantic Ocean. Gridley is underway on a regularly-scheduled deployment as the flagship of Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 to conduct maritime operations and provide a continuous maritime capability for NATO in the northern Atlantic.
