190829-N-NU281-1150 KANE’OHE BAY, Hawaii (Aug. 29, 2019) Hawaii-area first class petty officers selected to become chief petty officers work together to complete physical challenges during the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) challenge on Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The challenge is based on the physical fitness and tactical proficiency FMF Corpsmen must have to embed with Marine platoons. Sailors who are selected for promotion to chief petty officer go through six weeks of initiation training, to include leadership and physical training, to become better suited in their new roles as senior enlisted leaders.
