MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII, Hawaii (Aug. 29, 2019) – Hawaii-area Sailors selected to become chief petty officers participate in a tug-of-war competition during the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) challenge onboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The challenge is based on the physical fitness and tactical proficiency FMF Corpsmen must have to embed with Marine platoons. Sailors who are selected for promotion to chief petty officer go through six weeks of initiation training, to include leadership and physical training, to become better suited in their new roles as senior enlisted leaders.
