Lance Cpl. Alejandro Torrez, an artillery mechanic with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, applies fresh grease to the threads of an M-777 155 mm howitzer muzzle brake aboard the USS New York docked here, April 29, 2012. Torrez, attached to the BLT from the Camp Lejeune N.C. based India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, spent the day conducting maintenance while Mount Vesuvius provided a scenic backdrop. The 24th MEU, along with the Navy's Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, is currently deployed throughout the region as a theater reserve and crisis response force.
