U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Roberto Solis, a general duty hospital corpsman with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361 (HMH-361), Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, assists with a simulated blood transfusion on a patient during a medical training exercise aboard the USS Somerset (LPD-25) on Sept. 13, 2019. The Arctic Expeditionary Capabilities Exercise (AECE) medical training exercise utilizes the same skills that are critical for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions while also integrating hospital corpsman from Fleet Surgical Team 9, Combat Logistics Battalion 15 and HMH-361. Approximately 3,000 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps personnel are participating in AECE 2019, a joint training exercise that tests expeditionary logistical capabilities in the Arctic region and prepares joint forces to respond to crises across the Indo-Pacific.
