The AFRICOM Office of the Command Surgeon hosted various U.S. agencies during the first ever Infectious Disease Strategic Planning Workshop on Patch Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany, from Sept. 4-6, 2019. The workshop was developed to discuss U.S. government efforts pertaining to infectious disease prevention and response in Africa and included interagency support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of State and combat support agency, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The workshop will better enable U.S. AFIRCOM to operationalize the U.S. AFRICOM Theater Campaign Plan by modifying their Security Force Assistance strategy. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
