U.S. Army National Guard representatives were in attendance during the first ever Infectious Disease Strategic Planning Workshop, hosted by the AFRICOM Office of the Surgeon Office and held on Patch Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany, from Sept. 4-6, 2019. The National Guard personnel were in attendance to discuss the State Partnership Program which has been around for 25 years, with 75 partnerships in 81 nationsand how they can assist AFRICOM and the other agencies. Through SPP the National Guard conducts military-to-military engagements in support of defense security goals and also leverages whole-of-society relationships and capabilities to facilitate broader interagency and corollary engagements spanning military, government, economic and social spheres.
