Soldiers assigned to the 21st Chemical Company, Fort Bragg, N.C., conduct a live preliminary radiological survey as part of their training mission that simulated the detonation of a radiological explosive device. The U.S. Department of Energy, Radiological Emergency Preparedness Section provided the radiological sources used in the training and the U.S Department of Health, Office of Radiation Protection monitored levels of radiation to ensure the exercise was safe for training purposes.
