A mass casualty team assigned to the 21st Chemical Company, Fort Bragg, N.C., walk to a live radiological contaminated site to decontaminate, treat evacuated casualties and to tag all identified sources of radiation following a simulated detonation of a radiological explosive device. The U.S. Department of Energy, Radiological Emergency Preparedness Section provided the radiological sources used in the training and the U.S Department of Health, Office of Radiation Protection monitored levels of radiation to ensure the exercise was safe for training purposes.
