BAGHDAD: A squad from the 1st Mechanized Battalion, 1st Brigade, 9th Iraqi Army Division (Mechanized) patrols the streets of Abu Ghraib. Abu Ghraib was once known as a haven for insurgent activity due to its location between Baghdad and Falluja. Since the introduction of the 1/1/9 IA, insurgent attacks have dropped significantly.
