191008-N-CL550-00383 EAST CHINA SEA (Oct. 8, 2019) Chief Boatswain’s Mate William Garcia, from Los Angeles, serves as the flight deck safety observer as an MH-60 Seahawk helicopter, assigned to the “Scorpions” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 49, takes off from the flight deck of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Milius (DDG 69). Milius is underway conducting operations in the Indo-Pacific region while assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest forward-deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.
