Hundreds of computer guided solar photovoltaic panels follow the sun, absorbing its energy and translating that power into electricity for the Yermo Annex of Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif. The ten acre solar installation was officially opened Oct. 22 during a brief ceremony. One medium sized air conditioner uses 1,000 watts, or 1 kilowatt, of electricity per hour. The new solar farm generates 1,477 kilowatts an hour.
