NAVAL SUPPORT FACILITY REDZIKOWO, Poland (Oct. 25, 2019) – U.S. Navy Capt. Jon Grant, Naval Support Facility (NSF) Redzikowo’s commanding officer, hosted veterans of the Polish military from the nearby area for a tour of the base Oct. 25, 2019. Janina Kos, former lieutenant of the Polish Home Army, speaks with the command's cultural advisor Malgorzata Ozimek about her harrowing experiences after World War II when she was a young woman and forced to flee the area due to unrest after the war. She was invited for a personal tour of the base to learn more about the Aegis Ashore mission, see the construction progress and gain a better understanding about the partnerships with the surrounding community. Once construction is completed, the Aegis Ashore site in Poland will expand a defensive capability that protects NATO European territories, populations and forces against ballistic missiles launched from outside the Euro-Atlantic region.
