White bands mark the locations of hollowed out trees from the red-cockaded woodpecker, a threatened species that lives on Avon Park Range, in Florida. These habitats are a important part of the conservation efforts on the range, because it is also used by one of the rarest bats in the world, Florida Bonneted Bat. Biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife and U.S. Air Force are working hard to track and protect both species on the range. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Perry Aston)
