Lance Cpl. Darrick Drew salutes as taps is played at Lake Cemetery, Staten Island, May 25. He is an infantryman team leader, and Columbus, Ohio, native. Each year the Marines from Fleet Week New York help the town celebrate Memorial Day by changing their flag and place flags at the grave site of the troops buried here. There are fallen soldiers from battles dating back to the Civil War resting here. Drew is part of the Special Marine Air Ground Task Force New York, embarked aboard USS Wasp during Fleet Week New York 2012. Fleet Week has been New York City's celebration of the sea services since 1984. It is an unparalleled opportunity for citizens of New York and the surrounding tri-state area to meet sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as see, firsthand, the latest capabilities of today's maritime services.
