Horace Carratelli, a native of New York City, World War II veteran and retired first sergeant with the 123rd Armored Ordnance Battalion, 1st Armored Division, fires a training M4 Carbine at the Fort Bliss Simulations Center during the division's Torch Week, November 5. 1AD's ‘Torch Week’ is an annual event commemorating the division’s role in the World War II invasion of North Africa, known as ‘Operation Torch,’ as well as to celebrate the division’s history, and honor the everlasting legacy of Iron Soldiers through week-long sporting and morale-boosting events, which promote camaraderie and cohesion throughout the division.
