U.S. Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Deputy Secretary of Defense David L. Norquist help dedicate U.S. Strategic Command’s new command and control facility (C2F) to U.S. Air Force Gen. Curtis E. LeMay during a ceremony at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., Nov. 18, 2019. LeMay was the commander of Strategic Air Command (precursor to USSTRATCOM) from 1948 – 1957 and established its headquarters at Offutt AFB. This central location became the nerve center of a world-wide bomber-missile force. The C2F is a weapons system is the heart of the nuclear command, control and communications enterprise and which replaces USSTRATCOM’s old headquarters building.
