U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Barrett Reiter stands for a photo during exercise Fuji Viper 20-2 on Camp Fuji, Japan, Nov. 18, 2019. Fuji Viper is a regularly scheduled training evolution that allows infantry units to maintain their lethality and proficiency in infantry and combined arms tactics. “It’s good training no matter the time of the year or anywhere we go," said Reiter, a Chico, Calif., native and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear defense specialist. “To familiarize Marines in not only properly putting on the [Mission Oriented Protective Posture] suits but also with decontamination procedures that protect and save their lives as well as others’.” This iteration of Fuji Viper is executed by an activated reserve unit, 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, currently attached to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, as part of the unit deployment program.
