U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Ryan McHone, 56th Security Forces Squadron military working dog handler, participates in K-9 bite training with MWD Enzo during a demonstration, Dec. 10, 2019, at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. Trained to provide assistance in apprehension, MWDs can provide between 400 and 700 pounds of pressure per square inch of a bite when stopping an aggressor. MWD’s and their handlers are deployable worldwide helping safeguard military bases and activities; the dog’s acute sense of smell enables it to detect minute traces of explosives or drugs and alert the handlers of their presence.
