COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Dec. 13, 2019) – Commander, Naval Service Training Command (NSTC), Rear Adm. Jamie Sands, right, delivers a speech to Texas A&M University Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Midshipmen and gathered friends and family prior to commissioning the midshipmen into Naval officers during a ceremony held at the university campus. 18 new Navy and Marine Corps officers were commissioned during Sands’ visit to the unit. While visiting for the ceremony, Sands and NSTC Command Master Chief, Master Chief Petty Officer Jimmy Hailey III, also met with the unit’s leadership to discuss trends in accessions, how to better improve diversity and opportunity within the NROTC program, and standardization of mission goals and priorities.
