    Engineers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star effect repairs on one of the ship's diesel engines in the engine room Dec. 31, 2019, about 275 miles north of McMurdo Station in the Southern Ocean. The Polar Star is equipped with nine diesel engines, which provide 75,000 horsepower to break ice near Antarctica.
