Petty Officer 1st Class James Hill works to patch an oil filter pot Dec. 31, 2019, in the engine room aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star about 275 miles north of McMurdo Station in the Southern Ocean. A crack appeared in the oil filter pot aboard the 43-year-old icebreaker, and Hill serves as a damage controlman aboard the ship.
