A finished ski crate constructed by Airmen of the 109th Airlift Wing and designed to carry the skis that enable the New York Air National Guard Airmen of the wing to land on iced and snow, read to be shipped to Antarctica for use at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia, N.Y. in December, 2019.
The 109th Airlift Wing's Logistical Readiness Squadron designed the new crates to carry the 25-foot long skis that the wing's LC-130s use to land on snow and ice in the Arctic, Antarctic and Greenland, to replace older versions that were no longer serviceable. (Courtesy photo)
