GULF OF OMAN (Dec. 20, 2019) Sailors observe as two F/A-18F Super Hornets, attached to the “Fighting Checkmates” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 211, fly by the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60). The Normandy is part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (CSG) and is operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
