Citizens of Laporte, Colo., and the Rist Canyon area – a main fire access point and one of the hardest hit by the High Park fire – have donated water, food and other supplies to the fire support personnel and National Guardsmen who are here to help with evacuations and to protect personnel and property affected by the fire at traffic control point 5, June, 15, 2012. “It’s been wonderful to have the Guard here,” said Carol Nichols, resident of the Rist Canyon area. “It’s freed up other resources to help with the fire. We really appreciate the Guard’s help.”
