RED SEA (Jan. 25, 2020) – Marines assigned to Weapons Company, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment (BLT 2/8), 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fire sniper rifles aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) during a live-fire gun shoot. Bataan is the flagship for the Amphibious Ready Group, and with embarked 26th MEU, is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
