Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Stall, senior enlisted leader, 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson, toasts the ladies of Fort Carson during the Army birthday ball at the Fort Carson Special Events Center, June 16, 2012. Toasting is a formal and traditional part of the Army Ball. The soldiers of 4th Infantry Division celebrated the Army's 237th birthday with a traditional Army ball in honor of the men and women in uniform who are serving in countries around the world to protect and defend freedom and the American way of life. Since its birth June 14, 1775 - more than a year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence - the United States Army has played a vital role in the growth and development of the nation. America's Army has fought in more than 183 campaigns, from the American Revolution to the current campaign in Afghanistan. Today, the Army stands ready to answer the nation's call and win.
