CAMP FRANK D. MERRILL, Georgia – A Ranger instructor talks a student into a belay position during execution of a lead climb during the two-day exercise at Mt. Yonah during the Mountain Phase of U.S. Army Ranger School. Mountain Phase training ends in a two-day upper mountaineering exercise where students apply the skills learned during lower mountaineering. Each student must make all prescribed climbs at Mt.
