Maj. Gen. David Baldwin, the Adjutant General of the Cal Guard awards Sgt. 1st Class Cyndi Baltezore the Order of St. Maurice medal, Feb. 7th at the Joint Forces Headquarters, Sacramento, Calif. Baltezore became the state’s first female infantry Soldier in 2017. This medal was created in 1995 by the United States Army and is named after the 3rd century leader of the Roman Theban Legion, Saint Maurice. Notable recipients include Colin Powell, retired U.S. Army general and former U.S. Secretary of State and Dale A. Dye, decorated retired U.S. Marine Corp captain and founder of Warriors, Inc. (U.S. Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Salli Sablan)
