Maj. Gen. David Baldwin, the Adjutant General of the Cal Guard awards Sgt. 1st Class Cyndi Baltezore the Order of St. Maurice medal, Feb. 7th at the Joint Forces Headquarters, Sacramento, Calif. To date, less than 5% awardees have been female. Baltezore’s opportunity to serve in the infantry came as a result of the 2015 order from Army Defense Secretary to open all military assignments to woman.
