Retired Navy Cmdr. Jerry Egler, senior naval science instructor from Proviso West High School, in Hillside, Ill., inspects a Navy Junior ROTC cadet during a personnel inspection at Naval Station Great Lakes. The inspection was part of the 2012 Navy Junior ROTC Area 3 Leadership Academy June 17-23. More than 135 cadets from 55 high schools in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota Ohio, West Virginia and Texas, took part in the weeklong event.
