Dr. Suzette McKinney, the Executive Director of the Illinois Medical Group and the Alternate Care Sites (ACS) Operations Lead with the Illinois Department of Public Health briefs Soldiers and Airmen who are part of the State Unified Area Command-North (SUAC-N) at the McCormick Place Convention Center in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Chicago, Ill., April 9, 2020. The SUAC-N is a group of approximately 22 Airmen from the 183d Wing, Springfield, Ill., the 126th Air Refueling Wing, Scott Air Force Base, and the 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Ill., along with 2 soldiers from the Joint Force Headquarters, Springfield, Ill., assigned as a planning coordination cell assisting the state’s response to COVID-19 in the Chicagoland and outlaying areas by coordinating with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency along with other state agencies. Part of this group is tasked with ensuring that the Alternate Care Facilities(ACF) for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms who do not require intensive care in the Chicago area are operational.
