U.S. Air Force Major, Tiffany Haselhorst, from the 183d Wing, Springfield, Ill. takes part in a meeting with Airmen and Soldiers from the State Unified Area Command-North (SUAC-N) and Dr. Suzette McKinney, the Executive Director of the Illinois Medical Group and the Alternate Care Sites Operations Lead with the Illinois Department of Public Health at the McCormick Place Convention Center in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Chicago, Ill., April 9, 2020. The SUAC-N is a group of approximately 22 Airmen from the 183d Wing, based in Springfield, Ill., the 126th Air Refueling Wing, based at Scott Air Force Base, and the 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Ill. along with 2 Soldiers from the Joint Force Headquarters, Springfield, Ill., assigned as a planning coordination cell assisting the state’s response to COVID-19 in the Chicagoland and outlaying areas by coordinating with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency along with other state agencies. Part of this group is tasked with ensuring that the Alternate Care Facilities(ACF) for COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms who do not require intensive care in the Chicago area are operational.
