Less than a week after returning from I Corps' yearlong deployment to Afghanistan, Lt. Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, the commanding general of I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and the I Corps' Command Sgt. Maj. John Wayne Troxell take the time, during the bi-annual community connector meeting June 19, to present Steilacoom, Wash., Mayor Ron Lucas with a flag flown for him at the Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan. Several flags were presented to leaders from local communities to show appreciation for their support of JBLM's soldiers and airmen. More than 40 community leaders attended the meeting to exchange information with JBLM leadership, which makes it possible for them to support one another both at JBLM and within the surrounding communities.
