JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 14, 2020) – Lt. Cmdr. Clifton Wilcox, public health emergency officer (PHEO) for Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Jacksonville, and Navy Region Southeast, coordinates by phone with a command aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Wilcox and his team established a 24/7 “commanders line” for area commanders early in the COVID-19 pandemic. Wilcox, a native of Joliet, Illinois, holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard School of Public Health. “I help leadership coordinate public health emergency responses. Our PHEO team, our five branch health clinics, and medical personnel from other commands aboard the installations work together in support of protecting lives and mission-critical operations.” (U.S. Navy photo by Jacob Sippel, Naval Hospital Jacksonville/Released).
