JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 14, 2020) – Lt. Cmdr. Clifton Wilcox, public health emergency officer (PHEO) for Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Jacksonville, and Navy Region Southeast, coordinates by phone with a command aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Wilcox and his team established a 24/7 “commanders line” for area commanders early in the COVID-19 pandemic. Wilcox, a native of Joliet, Illinois, holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard School of Public Health. “I help leadership coordinate public health emergency responses.
