SOUTH CHINA SEA (April 22, 2020) Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) put on personal protective equipment during a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear defense (CBRN) fundamentals class aboard amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). The class taught Marines from different fields key skills that CBRN Marines use regularly during operations. America, flagship of the America Expeditionary Strike Group, 31st MEU team, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
