April 12, 1975. Over 250 U.S. and Foreign Nationals are evacuated ahead of advancing Khmer Rouge elements from Phnom Penh, Cambodia during Operation Eagle Pull. 14 CH-53s, 3 CH-46s, 4 AH-1Js, and 1 UH-1E, all assigned to HMH-462 take part in the operation, and by 1215 that day, the last HMH-462 helicopter lands on Okinawa’s deck, successfully ending the operation. Five days later, Cambodia fell to the Khmer Rouge. (US Navy Graphic by Max Lonzanida/Released).
