Wayland Wong, 374th Civil Engineer Squadron NCO in charge of service contracts, ties a cable to the flightline prior to the annual certification test of the aircraft arresting system at Yokota Air Base, Japan, April 29, 2020. Aircraft arresting systems serve primarily to save lives by preventing aircraft from overrunning runways in cases where the pilot is unable to stop the aircraft during landing.
