Bill Toledo, who served as a Navajo code talker with 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines and is a native of Laguna, N.M., sent a message in Navajo code over radio frequencies at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, July 2. This was the first time in more than 60 years Navajo code has been spoken over an active radio channel.
