FORT BLISS, Texas - Spc. Gage Paraschos, a cavalry scout assigned to Troop C, 2nd Squadron, 13th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division and native of Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania, climbs across a pole at the Fort Bliss obstacle course during the 1AD Best Warrior Competition, May 15. Paraschos and the other competitors representing their respective brigades completed the obstacle course after a 12-mile ruck march and the Army Combat Fitness Test, completing a three-event gauntlet designed to test and stress the physical fortitude and endurance of the participating Soldiers. The competitors vied for the titles of 1AD Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the year, representing the division through their knowledge, skills and excellence. Paraschos won the competition along with Staff Sgt. James Ferrone, a cavalry scout assigned to Troop B, 2-13 CAV and native of Naperville, Illinois, demonstrating their excellence and dedication as Iron Soldiers. (U.S. Army photo by Pfc.
