Lt. Col. Sonny B. Avichal, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District commander, joins John and Natasha Deane, owners of Wildwood Resort & Marina, to raise the “Clean Marina” flag where boaters and visitors will see the symbol of a commitment to safeguarding the environment. The event recognized the marina’s voluntary efforts to reduce water pollution and erosion in the Cumberland River watershed, and for promoting environmentally responsible marina and boating practices. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District required the owners to sign a pledge card committing to the ideals of controlling pollution and erosion. Then the facility completed a clean marina checklist and developed an action plan to meet their goals. (USACE photo by Leon Roberts)
